At an international level Croatia is well served both by air flights with regular services arriving at Zareb, Spilt and Dubrovnik from many European capitals and by sea from many of Italy’s eastern sea ports across the Adriatic. Good road links through Slovenia to Italy and north to Austria and Hungary also make for easy access by car.
Internally roads have improved massively in the 15 years since independence and perhaps the easiest and most cost effective way to get around is by bus, with a wide range of options for local and regional coach travel.
Another option in coastal areas is to take a ferry. These come in all shapes and sizes some making simple links to one or two islands while others hop down the coastal ports providing over night services from Reika in the north to Dubrovnik in the south, stopping at other coastal ports including Zadar and Split before heading on to international destinations.
