Konoba Pizzeria Volat, Stomorska
Recommended very highly by a German couple we encountered in Pucisca this popular eatery is situated immediately on the harbour wall in Smorska and serves both pizza along more traditional dalmatian fare centring around locally caught fish and meat. That said the food served comes with the Volat's own twist... Octopus salad is not simply cut pieces of cooked octopus served in oil and vinigar, the addition of peppery wild rocket leaves, onion and home grown tomato makes it a completely different starter.
While on the face of it the main parts of the menu are simple meat and fish fare typical of the region, the food is well prepared and beautifully presented. It is also so plentiful that the two main courses we ordered (one fish and one steak) could have comfortably fed four and were a stretch for two.
Service is brisk but friendly and though the establishment was busy (not quite full but almost) there was no pressure to move us on once we had finished our meal. On cost the food was excellent value costing less than £20 per head for food that in the UK would have been priced at 3x that level.
Over all the Volat offers good quality food in an interesting and pleasant location and at excellent value for money.
Like several establishments in Stromoska the Volat also serves ice cream (cones and tubs) to passing trade.
