Vis, Luka Rogacic
CIYC Review by ArekW
If you are looking for quite anchorages to provide an alternative mooring within striking distance of Vis Town then Luka Rogacic, at the north-western side of the entrance to Viska Luka provides one of the best options. Vis Town is a mater of 5 minutes away by tender or a short walk of perhaps 20 minutes around the shore.
Within the bay there are three main options, at the west end of the bay you can anchor in 5 meters where an anchor hold quite perfectly.
There are also three small bays on the southern edge of the Luka. Of these no anchoring is allowed in the eastern bay (due to a marine cable) it is however possible to anchor in the two bays to the west. Of these care should be taken in the centre bay as holding is reported as poor.
Finally you can also docking to Submarine Pen. Here you should take care on jumping from the complex, there were a lot of accidents with back injuries. For those who are interested there are a lot of military complex to sightsee.
Generally in Luka Rogacic care should be taken during easterly winds and in the two bays on the south side of the Luka in winds from the north.
Shelter: Careful consideration should be given in N, NE and Ely winds
Depths: 6-10 metres
Holding: Reported as generally good - but poor in the central bay
Hazards: None recorded
Shore Access: Via beach and path to road network
Services: In Vis Town
