CIYC review by ArekW.
Once a small fishing village built during the 16th Century on a coastal island, in recent years Rogoznica has become massively developed as a holiday resort with marina (Marina Frappa). Options for visiting yachts include the marina (with 500 places to berthing, 150 on the land, 75 t crane, technical services, restaurants, supermarkets and laundry), mooring buoys attached to the marina and the town harbour east of the Marina where there are mooring with electricity and water near entrance to harbour. (Fees in 2012): up to 15m = 26 HRK/m; 15-19m 30HRK/m 19-29m 40 HRK/m.
Alternative is anchoring on the other side of bay from Frappa north of the harbour next to the road connecting modern Rogoznica to the older island settlement. There are several hazards as you select your anchorage
1.Near road there is underwater cable.
2.The Anchorage is open to NE, E, SE winds
That said during our stay (late September) there were gust peaking at Force 8 and despite this during the night we was shifted only few meters perhaps because of extra holding offered by an area of sea grass which we hit with the anchor.
Shelter: Good though exposed to winds from the NE, E and SE
Depths: 3-10 metres? (care should be taken)
Bottom: Mud and Weed
Holding: Reported as good
Hazards: Beware of submarine cable next to the road
Services: All the services you associate with a city can be found in Rogoznica including boat services at Marina Frappa.
